Productivity
Human’s are powerful, creative, and able; especially when looking at the lives of some gifted individuals - they seem to not only eminate creativity, but actually produce and acheive a great deal more compared to the rest of us, even though they have the same 24 hours in any given day; I’ve been doing some thinking and come closer to understanding how it works - so here goes:
It’s impossible to do anything without either practice, or a plan; try to move your arm and you will notice that you had to plan to do it, and its true for everything that ever needs doing; the only time we don’t have to plan to do something is something that we’ve practiced for so long that it’s an automated response, even so for every iteration of the practice, planning was needed to acheive it.
The old adage “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” is very true - life needs a plan, if there is any lacking in motivation it is just lack of a sufficant plan. Sometimes we seem to have a perfect plan (eg. to drive to the shop), but seem to still lack the motivation to acheive it, but the truth is: the plan is just not defined enough, and in being so it is more of a goal than a plan - to define a plan further the question should be asked: “have I even made a plan to get dressed” or drilled down deeper “have I planned to get out of bed”, or deeper still: “have I planned to move my right leg onto the floor”. Whenever a lack of motivation is experienced, just simply define the plan further, until the motivation is at hand; sometimes it is even neccesary to plan in such detail that one needs to program the nervous system with the command “get up”.
As far as I can tell, most plans are never made because plans are so laborious to implement and acheive, it seems like useless, tiring, bothersome, beaurocratic red tape, and should be confined to companies, not persons, but it is no mistake that companies can acheive more than individuals. For all the benefits of planning, “it’s too hard” seems a lame excuse, and reaks of a lack of creativity or insight, because planning need not be laborious.
Learning to love to plan is important, because once it’s practiced, it gets a lot easier, lifes plan should be seen as a vine, we should aim to grow only one vine, and let everything be branches of that vine - instead of pouring our creativity on other plants or weeds in the garden that won’t help us, we should grow the vine instead, each goal in life should be seen as a fruit, with the branches being the path to the fruit.
The vine of lifes plan should be respected above anything, this can not be stressed enough, water it, don’t let it die, don’t rely too much on others creativity or it might dry up.
Being gifted with a creative mind can be a terrible ordeal, its like placing a child into a world made from candy; everything’s edible, everything’s exciting and anything’s possible - but more often than not, all that results is endless abstraction and not much productivity (see Beige Mode). This is because there’s so many great ideas happening, and such awesome creativity taking place in ones mind that there’s no possible way of achieving any of the ideas; brilliant ideas I would call orphaned ideas because there is no resources available to make all these ideas come about.
I would argue that these orphaned ideas would be better off not being born, as they will never make it through to adulthood, and just waste time. While still seeing one’s life plan as a vine, any new ideas need to be grafted into the vine in the form of extending the plan, if the idea can’t be grafted into the vine, the idea is an orphan and won’t last long at all, orphaned ideas, or orphaned creative thoughs are useless and grow up to steal our cars.
The imagination is a wonderful thing, and most people, if asked would say that they spend time thinking about what they like thinking about, not what they should think about, but this could be a bad thing. Because desire makes things happen (desire leads to thoughts which leads to plans, which leads to deeds), desiring many different incompatible things becomes self defeating, and cancerous. The definition of lust is: desires which do not support or detract from life, growth, and living.
If the plan is upheld and care is taken to never allow creativity that is not attached to the vine; there is a synergy of modes which takes place in life which begats great fruitfulness. If all actions, creativity and everything is submitted to the plan, then there will be nothing.
I’d say productivity is a pretty important thing; and being a mortal sometimes I’m just not up to the task of being creative. I find I have many different modes of creativity, which reflect the carnal physiological state. Being carnal means that we are pretty much just enlightened meat machines, and everything we do is rather jack-of-all-trades ish - as opposeed to the unelightened single purpose machines and tools we use (eg. a computer). We will have our emotional ups and downs as destiny takes its toll but any emotional or physiological ups, downs, and sideways movements affect our creativity and it’s important to realise this and plan/react accordingly.
At the moment I call my current state “Beige Mode”, and beige mode sucks the big one. Beige mode is strange state where there is no short of creative spark, and ideas flow with no problem but the rest of the brain is just too tired to categorize the thoughts or to act decisively on any of them, leading to a sense of frustration. Beige mode visually is like a runaway garden hose there’s something being produced, but its just being wasted.
